Jack Webster Foundation Co-Chair Debora Sweeney today announced more than $14,000 in funding for 2010 recipients of the JWF Fellowships.

The recipients will participate in educational opportunities including attending the Poynter Institute in Florida taking such courses TV Power Reporting, Narrative Writing on Deadline, or Backpack journalism. One recipient will enroll in an online course offered by the London School of Journalism and another will be applying for the Knight Digital Media Center in Berkeley, California.

"To date, the Jack Webster Foundation has supported 47 BC journalists with professional development programs and 25 additional BC journalists who have participated in our CIDA-sponsored Seeing the World through New Eyes program," Sweeney said. "It's a privilege to support BC journalists in Jack Webster's name and to provide unique opportunities to enhance their education and experiences."

"We are very pleased this year to offer an additional fellowship award made available for a BC-born journalist by funding received from the estate of the late Don Matheson, a former BC reporter."
